2011 CVN Maintenance Pier Replacement
American Construction Company (ACC) was awarded a contract to perform marine construction at Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) near Bremerton, Washington. A subcontractor to NOVA / Saliba Joint Venture, ACC performed 100% of the work for this project. The job was to place replace the Pier B structure in order to upgrade the naval facilities. To do this, ACC placed 800 cubic yards of sand underneath the pier to a 3" minimum and a 6" maximum using a telescope conveyor truck. We then installed over 200 concrete piling which provided the structural integrity needed to sustain the large loads of the naval ships.
This project was complex due to significant amounts of environmental monitoring to maintain water quality. Despite these tight restrictions, American Construction relied upon their experience and completed the job 4 weeks ahead of schedule with no accidents.
