2010 Duwamish Waterway Dredging
American Construction Company (ACC) was awarded a contract to dredge material out of the Duwamish Waterway near Seattle, Washington. The project was essential for safe passage of the local barge traffic in order to maintain operations.
ACC expertly dredged over 66,000 cubic yards of sediment during this project utilizing a clamshell bucket. A challenge of the job was to split the disposal of the material between open water and upland. 65,000 cubic yards were selected for open water disposal which was performed by the ACC dump barge Liberty. In addition, 1,000 cubic yards were then transported for upland disposal. ACC maintained close communication with the Seattle District of the Corps of Engineers in order to ensure all permits were met and to ensure the project was in regulatory compliance.
ACC's dredging experience combined with our positive relationship with Seattle District Corps of Engineers yielded complete satisfaction for all involved.
