2000 Kalama River Bridge
American Construction Company (ACC) was awarded a contract to install the Kalama River Bridge across the Kalama River. The intent of the project was to provide safe access to a developing business park for the greater Kalama community.
ACC constructed a new bridge which consisted of a concrete deck of 14,592 square feet. The 26 steel piling emplaced effectively supported the steel girders and structure. A unique aspect of the project was that the entire bridge was constructed on land and was launched over the water using a barge supported hydraulic jacking system. This method allowed ACC to maximize efficiencies in order to expedite the project for the owners.
Using constant and positive communication, American was able to work efficiently and effectively with its many subcontractors and the customer in order to keep on schedule, even though 16 different change orders were issued. It was the flexibility and experience of the ACC staff and craftsmen that ensured success on this project.
