American Construction Company (ACC) was awarded a contract by Metro Parks Tacoma to improve and expand an existing boat launch at Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington. To complete the work, ACC demolished the existing floats, excavated and re-graded the ramp area, placed a new cast in place concrete ramp (150 cubic yards), furnished and installed precast ramp panels, and constructed and installed new HDPE floats. There was some upland improvements that needed to be completed and ACC was able to perform those with our experienced team. On site, ACC drove thirty-three 14" steel piling ranging in length from 29' to 68'. In addition to the other work performed, ACC placed 579 linear feet of walkway to allow access to the site.

The owner specified a float system that no supplier would manufacture, therefore ACC designed and built the desired floats in order to meet the owner specifications. Creating an eight lane boat launch instead of the original four lane, ACC was able to alleviate the traffic congestion which allowed boaters to use the finger walkway to prepare their boats for departure.
