Skagit River
2013 Skagit River Bridge Permanent Solution

American Construction Company (ACC) was awarded a subcontract by Max Kuney Construction for the marine construction portion of the Skagit River Bridge replacement near Mount Vernon, Washington.

ACC performed the permanent structure installation of the Skagit River Bridge (renamed in 2013 to the Trooper Sean M. O'Connell, Jr. Memorial Bridge). American Construction drove 68 piles with lengths up to 130 feet, assisted the construction of a rail system used to slide the temporary and permanent solutions into place and assisted in the placement of the 900-ton concrete transfer span. The permanent solution was constructed alongside the temporary solution and was moved into place over a 19 hour period. This large undertaking was ahead of schedule by over two weeks and a large success for the local community.

As the primary sub to this Design-Build project, ACC worked well with both the ownership group and the engineering team. Due to our project experience, ACC was able to shorten the project timeline by nearly 3 weeks. ACC is proud to have completely met the needs of the client and the community in this nationally visible project.
