SR 520 West Connection
American Construction Company (ACC) completed the SR 520 West Connection as part of a renovation for the longest floating bridge in America. This Joint Venture project was executed successfully for WSDOT.
The West Connection Bridge is a four lane, 1,330-foot-long bridge structure that will join the new SR 520 floating bridge to the existing SR 520 roadway. ACC drilled and installed 19 large diameter shafts (8’, 10’, & 12’ dia) to establish a foundation for the associated columns, crossbeams and deck girders. The precast girders (150’ length, 85T) were placed with the DB Guardian.
The project was successfully completed per the original construction timeline. ACC managed all scheduled bridge closures without incident and minimally impacted the commuting populace.
