American Construction Company (ACC) won the contract to perform work at Terminal 18 for the Port of Seattle in Seattle, Washington. The contract was to perform marine construction and dredging at the site in order to execute the necessary upgrades to the facilities. ACC demolished an existing 1,000 foot timber fender system and then installed port-furnished sheet piles underwater. ACC reconstructed the fender system and performed dredging and dredge disposal operations of approximately 4,200 cubic yards of contaminated sediment (upland disposal), and approximately 5,200 cubic yards for open water disposal in Elliott Bay.

The top of the sheet piles were underwater which required coordination with divers to complete. ACC strives to maintain a high level of communication with owners, clients, subcontractors, and others in order to provide the best product. As a result of close communication on this project, the terminal remained in operation at the time of construction ACC was able ensure no shipping schedules were affected.
